I’m Andrew Dawson, a passionate Lighting Designer

& Programmer with a love for theatre and live events.

My journey began in high school when I joined the AV team, igniting my desire to become a Lighting Designer. After studying Theatre Arts-Technical Production at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, I earned a diploma and received the FieldService.Ca Award of Excellence in Theatrical Production.

After working as the Head Electrician at the Lighthouse Festival Theatre in Port Dover, ON, I pursued freelance work in theatre, corporate and live concert events. This ultimately lead to me achieving my goal of working freelance in concert touring, which is what I specialize in today.

As a versatile Lighting Designer, Programmer, and Lighting Director, I have collaborated with various bands and designers. When not immersed in lighting design, I enjoy cooking, creating hot sauce recipes, and exploring nature for inspiration.

When I’m not at work, you’ll see me spending time with some of my other passions, whether it’s creating a brand new tiki drink recipe, dialing in a new coffee bean I picked up, or going for hikes.

PRODUCTION DESIGN

Original and unique ideas to set your production apart from the rest, and make it unforgettable. Includes full lighting design and early concept renderings. We can meet virtually or in person to make sure that your project goes off without a hitch.

TECH PACKS & PRE-VISUALIZATION

Creating lighting paperwork, covering every single detail. Custom paperwork like lighting plots, previz, equipment and fixture reports, cable lists and more. I use the latest technologies to create lifelike stage render videos or photos in 4K quality so you know what to expect from our work.

SHOW OPERATIONS

I am an expert at programming any show on GrandMA2, MA3, Resolume or Arkaos. Creating shows ranging from busked shows, to cuestacked or fully timecoded shows - it’s all available. I also provide festival packages, which includes a base PSR file for touring acts coming in.

On top of that, I can also operate your show, or assist as your Lighting Director for your show run. I can ensure your shows integrity at each and every stop. Available for fly outs, one offs, bus tours, and everything in between.
